Eternal Life, Good or Bad?

With the power of immortality there are a few upsides and a few downsides. The upsides are that you wouldn't ever have to worry about dying at an old age. Plus you you would have an eternity to do things. The badside to this is that if I were immortal i would not have any life long friends because all the friends I would have made would die, plus my wives would die and I would be heartbroken many times. Also the fact that I would basically be a mere mortal with no powers so I would just be a regular guy who lives eternally. Though I would have the promise of eternal life I would still live with the everyday threat oof murderers and robbers. The world we live in is a messed up place there is no way I would want to live here forever.

You're very forgiving of Odysseus! Seriously though, I think this is a valid point of view and you make a good argument. I think I had asked you to blog about a line from a particular passage about Penelope's weaving: "So she finished it off. Against her will. We forced her." When you get a chance, offer an analysis of the suitor's language here. Consider the punctuation as well.

Odysseus' Lust

In the book the "Odyssey" our hero Odysseus is away from his home for 20 long years. He is faced with adversity at every turn and he just misses his quaint kingdom of Ithika. He then lives with the nymph Kalypso for seven years (against his will). Then she forces him to sleep with her every night (apparently not to Odysseus' displeasure). The class had a discussion on whether or not Odysseus was messed up because Penelope had a similar situation but didnt give in. I say that no Odysseus was not messed up because he was forced by a goddess and his well bieng is at stake. Odysseus was forced but the fact that at first he enjoyed it was not of any importance he hadnt had sexual relations in a long time therefore the fact his body liked it was not up to him. I would like to see what people have to say about this subject
