The Fate of the Humans Existance
In lines 149-161 of the Odyssey Odysseus shares his thoughts on the Human existance. He believes the human race is doomed to a destiny of constant change and tribulations. He also believes that humans state of mind is feeble and when faced with trials that are miniscule in the grand scheme of time we falter. Our problem is that we react to life and wait for it to happen to us instead of us making life happen and things reacting to us. Thats how all successful people are they make things happen and roll with the punches. I agree with Odysseus' statement but I think there are people out there that defy this rule and because they are above everyone else then they are viewed as great.

Immortal/Dead
I like your style, Devan, and the creative way you addressed the underworld. You define the key problems with the concept of immortality.

Kingdom of the Dead
O kingdom of the dead, the bed of eternal slumber . The resting place of all ones who have been cast down by the harsh hand of life. The inevitable end for all mortals that roam the surface of our planet Earth. I sing a tale of your endless depths of fire pain and despair. The blackness darker than any in the mortal realm. A darnkess blacker than the void. The power of evil and lost souls fills the air. I stair into you no color in my face and wonder ...how will I stay sane in the the endless forever to come?

Eternal Life, Good or Bad?
With the power of immortality there are a few upsides and a few downsides. The upsides are that you wouldn't ever have to worry about dying at an old age. Plus you you would have an eternity to do things. The badside to this is that if I were immortal i would not have any life long friends because all the friends I would have made would die, plus my wives would die and I would be heartbroken many times. Also the fact that I would basically be a mere mortal with no powers so I would just be a regular guy who lives eternally. Though I would have the promise of eternal life I would still live with the everyday threat oof murderers and robbers. The world we live in is a messed up place there is no way I would want to live here forever.

You're very forgiving of Odysseus! Seriously though, I think this is a valid point of view and you make a good argument. I think I had asked you to blog about a line from a particular passage about Penelope's weaving: "So she finished it off. Against her will. We forced her." When you get a chance, offer an analysis of the suitor's language here. Consider the punctuation as well.
